Please use the east door on the front (south)
of the building.
Where should I park?
Parking is available in front (south) of the
Surgery Center. Additional parking is also available on the west
side of the building.
Why do I have to go without food or water?
You must go without food or water for your
safety because you will be receiving
anesthesia. If you eat or drink, your
surgery may be cancelled. Please follow the instructions given by
your doctor.
When can I eat and drink?
After surgery, you will be given something to
eat and drink unless the surgeon orders certain diet restrictions.
How long will this take?
Most people are at the Surgery Center for
about three hours the day of their surgery. However, each procedure
varies in time.
Why do I have to say my name and birth date to
everyone, isn’t it on the chart?
In order to guarantee that the correct surgery
will be performed on the correct person, you will be asked to say
your name and birth date many times during your surgical stay.
Why must I bathe before surgery?
Bathing before surgery helps reduce the
microorganisms (germs) that are on your skin during surgery.
Why can I not wear perfumes, hairspray, or makeup?
Patient safety is our main concern. Using
perfumes, hairspray, or makeup may compromise your safety. Also,
these could increase infections and prevent the best preparation of
the skin for surgery. Additionally, the surgical staff may have
allergies to these substances.
